01Who is responsible

Where Money is an independent personal project, not a business and not a service sold to anyone. There is no company behind it and no support desk. The author is on GitHub at github.com/kamgy, which is the way to reach them about anything on this page.

02No affiliation with any bank

Where Money is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to any bank, payment provider, or financial institution, and has no business relationship with any of them.

It cannot connect to a bank, and it has no way to reach an account even if you wanted it to. There is nowhere to enter online-banking credentials, because there is nothing that could use them. Everything it knows comes from CSV files that you exported from your bank yourself and chose to open.

Bank names appear in the app and in its source code for exactly one reason: to name the shape of the file a given bank exports, so that file can be read correctly. That is nominative use for interoperability. All bank names, trademarks and logos remain the property of their owners, and their appearance here implies no association with or endorsement by them.

03What is stored, and where

Your transactions

Everything you import — transactions, accounts, categories, rules, import history — is written to a single SQLite database file held in your browser's own storage (OPFS) on your device. It is not transmitted anywhere. There is no server to transmit it to.

Backups you make

A backup is an ordinary .sqlite file saved wherever you point the browser's file picker — your disk, a USB drive, a cloud folder you already use. Where it goes and who can read it is your choice and your responsibility.

No account, no cookie, no analytics

There is no sign-up, no login, and no user identity. The app sets no cookies, contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no social widgets and no third-party embeds. Fonts and every other asset are served from the same origin as the page.

Web server logs

Downloading the page itself is an ordinary web request, and whoever hosts these files may keep standard server logs (including IP addresses) for security and fault diagnosis, as any web server does. Those logs concern the delivery of the app, never its contents — your financial data is not in them, because it never leaves your device.

04The one request that leaves your machine

The app makes a single kind of outbound request, and only when you press the button that asks for it: fetching published exchange rates from the National Bank of Poland (NBP) public rates API, so amounts in other currencies can be converted.

That request contains a currency code and a date range. It carries no transactions, no amounts, no account numbers, no identifiers and nothing about you. As with any web request, NBP's own servers will see that a request arrived and from which IP address. If you never press the button, the app makes no network request at all after it has loaded.

05Not financial advice

Where Money is a tool for looking at your own past spending. Nothing it shows you — totals, categories, charts, trends, or any other output — is financial, tax, accounting, investment or legal advice, and none of it is a recommendation to do or not do anything. It is not a bookkeeping, accounting or tax-filing system, and it is no substitute for a qualified professional. Decisions you make after looking at it are yours.

06The numbers can be wrong

What you see is derived from files you supply, using rules you configure. It can be wrong for entirely ordinary reasons:

• an export that was incomplete, filtered or truncated by the bank;
• a bank quietly changing its export format;
• a misconfigured import template, category rule, or exchange rate;
• an account you never imported — the app only knows what you gave it;
• duplicated or missing rows;
• rounding, currency conversion, and where a month's boundary falls.

07Your data, and your backups

Because everything stays on your device, nobody else holds a copy: not the author, not a hosting provider, not anyone. That is the privacy property, and it is also the risk you carry in exchange for it.

Clearing your browser's site data, uninstalling the browser, resetting or losing the device, or a disk failure will destroy the data permanently. It cannot be recovered by anyone, because there is nowhere else it exists. Keeping working backups, and checking that they open, is entirely your responsibility. The app will remind you; it cannot do it for you.

08Terms of use

What is promised

Nothing. This is a free tool offered as is and as available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. There is no uptime commitment, no obligation to provide support, updates or maintenance, and no promise that it will keep working or remain available. Any part of it may change or stop working at any time.

Limits of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any claim, damages or other liability arising from or connected to this software or its use — including direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, and including lost data, lost backups, financial loss, tax consequences, or decisions taken on the basis of what the app displayed. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

What you are responsible for

Using the app lawfully where you are; complying with the terms of the banks and services whose exported files you use with it; and, if you use it with data about anyone other than yourself, complying with the data protection law that applies to that data. You keep every right you have in your own data — the author claims none, and could not act on such a claim in any case, having no access to it.

09Changes

If this page changes materially, the date under the title changes with it.
